Master Control (2010-2013) is a collection of pieces that explore the possibilities of controlling visual material with sound, controlling sonic material with video, controlling gestures mediated by video capture, or controlling audio-visual gestures through a variety of sensors (light, motion, pressure, etc.). This project has developed in collaboration with the blackhole-factory media collective based in Braunschweig, Germany. The project was launched with a workshop and work-in-progress performance in March 2010. An extended workshop in February 2013 led to a second performance in Windsor, and will be followed by performances in Germany in August 2013. The collection of pieces that make up Master Control is designed to be reassembled in different configurations to allow for significant creative contributions by ensemble members, collaborators, and our team of research assistants.
